In 2002, the owner of this Thimble Island retreat asked Mike to re-engineer the structure, not realizing he had a hand in building the original hut in the 1970’s. This proved to be an exciting project for Mike and the Simmons team.

Logistics alone were a challenge as this tiny island is only accessible by boat. But we love a challenge here at Simmons and gladly took it on. New concrete columns were poured, a new deck built on top, and then the hut. Interior features of this quaint cottage include a kitchenette with a gas burning cooktop, honed black granite counters, and mahogany cabinetry. The sleeping loft has mahogany built-in beds with drawer storage below and is accessed by a mahogany and Spanish cedar ship’s ladder. The whole structure has withstood two major storms since being rebuilt; only needing a few boards replaced here and there. This project is a true testimony to the quality and craftsmanship of the Simmons team.
