It houses a custom curved stainless steel sink, dishwasher, and recycling drawer. The cabinets are constructed of cherry with contrasting birch panels. These two woods were chosen for their similar grain patterns. The island’s higher level is wrapped in green-stained bead board and topped with a solid cherry counter. This higher bar is not only great "hanging out" space, especially when entertaining, it also serves as a barrier to hide messy kitchen activity from the living room.
