A pair of islands is a highlight of this kitchen. One island is a workhorse housing a microwave, oversized drawers for pots and pans, abundant storage and a slightly higher curved bar delineating the kitchen from the rest of the house. White birch cabinets are topped with absolute black granite countertops while the curved bar's surface is solid cherry.

The family's informal dining is the kitchen's second island. It is simply a table top resting on an essential supporting column required in this open plan. The table's top is cherry and acts as a unique piece of art in the center of this modern home.
